Chris Messina talks about the DiSo project. His ideas are interesting, but the aim of Social OS is different. The idea is to replace the existing infrastructure with stuff you own. His ideas are interesting to listen to, but I don't think Social OS will be a general reference implementation, instead we'll borrow ideas where we find them useful and be more pragmatic about building something that people want to use.
